Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) Secretary General Renato Reyes took to social media to defend his actions on the recent mass demonstration that they led in the streets of Metro Manila in time for the ASEAN summit hosted by the Philippines.

In his recent Facebook post, Reyes explained their group’s stand on why they needed to gather and took their sentiments on the streets while we have visitors who are leaders from all over the world.

Reyes also hit back on those netizens who criticized him for sipping a McDonald’s beverage, “So yung tungkol sa McDo, medyo non sequitur yun. Di ba pwedeng nauhaw lang?” he added.

The now tagged as “professional rallyist” also defended those saying that the protesters are promoting violence.

When confronted with fascism, we have a duty to resist,” Reyes explained.

In the end, Reyes firmly stands on his belief and said that online bashing will never stop him from doing what he does best.

“Banatan at siraan man nila ako araw-araw, tuloy lang ang kilusan. It is bigger than just one person.
