1 police killed and 12 wounded in NPA attack in Iloilo...



At least 12 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Operations Group was injured and one officer died in a suspected New People’s Army Attack (NPA) on Friday night, November 24, 2017, at the Sitio Camansi, Brgy. Bolo, Maasin, Iloilo.





According to Western Visayas Police Regional Office Spokesperson Supt. Gilbert Gorero, the fatality in the attack was PO1 Jofer Odon of the Regional Public Safety Battalion-VI while the injured policemen were namely Joy Melvin Ponce, Kim Iver Salongcone Cornel, Mark Paul Banquillo, Marlon Yanson Arbues, Joseph Gonzales, Vincent Yusay, Kit Jacon Delejero, Noli Talento, Rolando Lozada Jr., Eduardo Infante Jr., and PO1 Bachiler.





Gorero said that the ambush happened at around 6 in the evening when the group of policemen was on board a patrol car and private vehicle and suspected rebel groups threw landmine against the police force.

He added that two of the policemen were brought at the Cabanatuan Hospital while 8 others were referred at the Iloilo City Hospital.





The said incident came two days after the suspected member of NPA attacked the two police cars with onboard personnel of Sibalom Municipal Police Station while patrolling in the neighbor province of Antique, three were wounded in the said ambush.





It could be recalled that on Thursday, President Rodrigo Duterte officially ended the government’s peace talks with communists groups and have threatened to declare them as terrorists.
