Newborn baby discovered abandoned in church toilet in Philippines



Carrying a baby inside the body for nine months is no an easy feat and mothers wouldn’t want to be separated from their babies. But, there are times when newborns are abandoned in toilets, garbage bins, like this baby in the Philippines.



A newborn baby girl has been discovered in a cubicle by two girls. The baby was found lying in a diaper on Monday, May 29, 2017, in Miag-ao church in Iloilo, Philippines.

A church staff told ABS-CBN News that two girls informed him upon the discovery. Staffs at the church quickly contacted the police and a clinic. They also sought help from the social welfare and development office. The office will determine if the baby is a foundling before placing her for adoption.

The baby was sent for medical examinations for infections. Weighing only two kilograms, the baby is considered quite small but fortunately, everything is fine, said the doctor who checked on the infant. The doctor also deduced that the child was born one or two days ago as there is no umbilical cord.



As the church’s toilet is available for public use, the person who abandoned the baby remains a mystery. The reason behind abandoning the child is also unknown but some netizens suggest that it could be due to postpartum depression that can happen to new moms and ask others not to judge the baby’s mom.

    at least hindi niya pina abort. mas gugustuhin ko itong idea na iniwan niyang buhay at sigurado ang nanay na may kukuha sa bata sa simbahan na bahay ng Diyos. AMEN SA IYO NANAY!
