OFW Mother of Damsel who experiences violence in her own father, protects Raffy Tulfo

No matter how a lot of people condemn domestic violence, sadly it is still happening in different parts of the world. Unfortunately, children also experience violence in the hands of their own parents who should be nurturing and protecting them from harm.

This is the dilemma faced by an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) mother named Amy Velasco based in Sydney, Australia after discovering that her two daughters who are under the custody of her husband are experiencing physical violence under the hands of their own father.

That is why Amy seek the help of Raffy Tulfo in Action program in order to help save her two teenage daughters from such abuse.

“Lagi po silang minimura, minsan sinasabi sakanila na ‘nag-aral pa kayo sa private, ang tanga-tanga mo naman,” Amy narrated.

When the program reached out to the father, Albert Velasco, Raffy Tulfo warned him that he might face child abuse charges because of what he is doing to his daughters.

But Albert strongly denied the allegations and defended himself instead, “Siyempre ako po ama, natural po minsan napagsasabihan ko, napapalo ko po, pero yung sasabihin po na… hindi kop o nabubugbog yan,” he said.

One of the daughters was devastated hearing her father’s alibis and angrily said: “Napakasinungaling mo! Binubugbog mo kaya kami! Sinasabihan mo kami ng ‘bobo, tanga’.”

The daughter also narrated that her father is usually mad whenever their mother would fail to send money so he would often turn his frustration on them. Aside from uttering abusive words, the daughter said that Albert also hit her in the head using a broom.

Amy also recalled a physical abuse incident during their daughter were just 5 and 6 years old,  their family seeks help from Bantay Bata 163 but the children were threatened not to tell the truth.

Amy added that her children told her that they would rather die than stay with their father, “Maawa ka sa mga anak mo, magtotorture sila, nabeverbal abuse nay an kakamura mo araw araw,” she said.

In the end, Albert cried and asked apologies to his daughters and agreed to give the custody to his wife’s siblings.
